When I was younger I used to buy CDs.  It was always a nice surprise when at the end there was an extra song, that was not on the listing - a bonus track.  Well what do you know, today we had a TransCantabric bonus track.  Yesterday was a quiet one and we took the tarmac for the first half of the journey back to catch the ferry in Santander on Saturday.  But today, a few of us decided that we couldn’t miss the opportunity of going back using more of the abundance of off road trails available.   When we started the cloud was low with rain forecast for later in the day.  Undaunted we headed up into the mountains, the driving the was fun, the views may have been great but we didn’t get to see them…       As the morning wore on the cloud lifted a little and there were even glimpses of blue sky when we stopped on the track for a late lunch.  Views were much clearer by then…     By early afternoon the rain had started and we found ourselves driving through an area where there had recently been fire damage, it was a bit eerie..     The rain continued to get harder and harder and we even had a bit of thunder and lightening…     But we pressed on regardless.  One unfortunate thing about trail maps is that they tell you where a trail is, but not who has used it before you.  As we were close to the end of the day Ignacio lead the way down a track which had been used by some forestry machinery.  He made a valiant effort to get through but I fear even with 40” tyres it would have been a challenge and he found himself high-centred…     It was a wet recovery, but after a couple of pulls we were able to get him back in the track…     After some extensive reversing we made our way back up the track and down to the road to our last hotel stay of the trip. Another great place with a lovely view…     And that really is it.  Tomorrow morning we head to Santander for a 1pm ferry.  Wish us luck, there are strong winds forecast for our return journey through the Bay of Biscay!

Maybe not at present, but it will happen.  You cannot see it until the bubbles appear.  Can I suggest that you Google Jeep Cherokee bubbles bonnet and see what comes up.  You may be able to prevent it from happening.  😀

My current Cherokee doesn’t have any corrosion neither did my previous one.
    • Surfer
The bonnet on our Grand Cherokee is aluminium and corrosion was a problem and it is not confined to the GC, but most models of Jeep.  The Cherokee will suffer from the same issue.
    • MacManus
Yes it is available on the KL Cherokee as I’ve had mine updated. Also  no corrosion on the KL Cherokee bonnet as it’s aluminium.

Overland model is a very good choice as it has active drive 2 gearbox with low range and descent control but a lot cheaper than equivalent year trailhawk.

I am fairly sure that we have one lying somewhere in the garage.  Used it a couple of times and decided we were better off without using it.
