Platinum Member TimC Posted May 4, 2016 Platinum Member Share Posted May 4, 2016 Now I have about 100kg of steel bumper and winch hanging off the nose of my Jeep I'm sure it's driving slightly differently, to be expected I guess. Any suggestions? I thought maybe I could lessen the load a bit by switching from steel cable to rope on the winch. Anyone got any advice on the pro's and cons of rope vs. steel ? Platinum Member darrenh Posted May 4, 2016 Platinum Member Share Posted May 4, 2016 I'd choose rope over steel cable every day matey, far more safer to winch with. Daz
Platinum Member Christian Posted May 5, 2016 Platinum Member Share Posted May 5, 2016 Ropes do need abit more maintenance than steel cables to ensure a good lifespan but they are much safer than the steel cables.

Any suggestions? I suggest you invest in a new set of front coils to keep the front up and yes you will save some weight on the front by swapping out steel for a good rope on the winch maybe 10 kg or less depending how long it is.
