Michele Viliani
Hi, thanks for accepting me, this is my first jeep, a dream forever, but this time I made it. A Compass, therefore a type C SUV and not a pure off-roader, but it can have its say in off-roading is: Jeep Compass mod 2017 2.0 diesel 4x4 AT9 Limited from 062019 - red with black roof - rear sensors - 235/45/19 tires with 19" alloy wheels, cruise control, 8.4" screen. I am passionate about the sea, offshore sailing, deep sea fishing, nature, off-road and electronics. I will ask you many questions and I will try to give you interesting information, ideas for off-road and technical activities. I know I have to change the tires and rims and I will!
V
I looked at the stock wheel and tyre fitments to see what off-road tyre options are available. And compared them with alternative tyre sizes that will fit your wheel wells on original size wheels. This meant not going over a 235 width. It may be possible to fit a 240 or 245 but that would be by experimentation: For 16" wheels there is a 235/60R16 and 235/65R16 For 17" wheels there is a 235/55R17 and 235/60R17 For 18" wheels there is a 235/50R18 The tyre choices at a popular UK supplier for the largest width (235) tyres are: 235/60R16 four AT, one remould MT offering 235/65R16 one AT, not much else, not a good choice 235/55R17 No off-road tyres 235/60R17 No off-road tyres 235/50R18 No off-road tyres There could be off-road tyres in the stock sizes 215/65R16, 215/60R17, 225/60R17 or other 215 and 225 sizes but I will leave that to you to research. V
You can see from my avatar that I have a bias towards deep sidewalls. I looked at 245/70R16 and it works out to be a 29"/30" tyre equivalent which should still be OK for your stock gearing. I don't know what your wheel wells are like but you should investigate if other Compass drivers have ever tried this size. Your speedo would need recalibration but this may be just a software setting. BFG make a KM3 for this size that gives you almost a 7" deep sidewall compared to the 4" sidewall you currently have. You will need to do your own research to see what wheels and tyres fit if you are not going for an EU type approved size for the Compass.

VIP Member Caroline12 Posted October 9 VIP Member Share Posted October 9 Hi Michele, welcome to the club, you will find lots of help and support here. it will be nice to have another compass in the club. I have heard there are a few crossover parts that fit the renegade and compass, like suspension lift kits etc. so you might find parts info you need on renegade pages. The tires allowed for travel in the booklet are: 215/65 Rl6 98H (Al) 225/60 Rl7 99H (A2) 225/55 Rl8 98H (A3) 235/45 Rl9 95H (A4) 225/60 Rl7 99T (AS) Al-Al,A3-A3,A2-A2,A5-A5,A4-A4 so I have to change rims and put them in 16 or 17 on the 19 ones I can only put 4 seasons with reinforced shoulder and M+S 3FPMS with a slightly better tread design. I do about 30,000 km/year and thinking of putting the AT on for 15/20 days a year in the countryside worries me a bit...

Surfer
We share the same passions about the sea, offshore sailing, deep sea fishing, nature, off-road and electronics. Unfortunately since moving from southern Africa to England most of these have not been available to me. Once you have been off road in Africa, there is very little to beat it. No fun trying to get somewhere and you are stuck for 3 or more days as you cannot get across a raging river and your supply of food and beer is running low!
