Blacklightning
Morning everyone, I've tried clicking GC WK to post this without success. Just become the delighted 3rd owner of a 2010 WK Tech with 65k from a Jeep Owner. Thrilled. I plan to try and keep her for 10 years so am looking for experiences tips of things I should contemplate doing to help that lifestyle? All tips gratefully received. I'm now going to think about how to sell my 160k WJ that I have spent just too much money refreshing to ever get back lol. Look forward to any replies. Many thanks. V
Welcome Stuart, it's nice to hear that you want to keep your WK for a long time. I'm also a long term Jeep owner, 24 years with a 1993 XJ and 17 years with a 2001 XJ. It may be quiet on here for replies this weekend as a large number of us are at Summer Camp in Wales this weekend.
VIP Member Mike WK2 Posted September 4 VIP Member Share Posted September 4 Hi, you’ll love the WK, never looked back since getting mine. I would say enjoy it first as is and work out what / how you want to use it. There is loads you can do but it is also very capable as standard. Things to watch out for if your off road, is break over angle, and the battery box sticking out below the drive seat is a vulnerable point in my experience, also learning to pick better lines more suited to the WK is also key. If your air suspension I found moving to 18” wheels so I could larger tyres and then be able to de air off road a big step forward for both comfort and grip. Animal off road Australia and Rocky Road Outfitters USA are a good source of inspiration if your looking at mods for playing. If your looking for roof capacity, I’m not sure of the WK has the same issues as the WK2 which has a week point in the way the roof bars fix so be cautious on just using bars available in the UK, as there is some horror stories of roof damage with the fixings pulling out with wind resistance. I went with the Chief Products roof rails only to keep costs down and fitted uk available cross bars to the rails, the key is getting the weight out onto the pinch weld which also stops the bars from being able to lift with wind resistance. I have probably more than I should on the roof and never had a problem. Enjoy
