Found a security screw under the tyre carrier number plate on my KJ

I found a security screw under the tyre carrier number plate that prevents the spare wheel from being removed. I assume the Jeep came with a special tool to remove it. Is there a special location for the tool be stored?

Did you mean like a locking wheel nut? I don't remember anything else. Its along time ago now! Have you checked the pockets behind the seats? I recall one of mine had split inside ,somehow at the bottom and stuff used to go in the seat.

I've a tool that removes locking nuts when one has lost the key.  Cheap , tool station I think.

Easy outs?

Hope this helps.

It may be a different pattern to the wheel locking nuts. When new mine had two 'keys'. If you don't have the key then a tyre fitting place should be able to remove it, or diy!

It looks like a different pattern to the wheel lock nuts but I will try it to make sure.

Hi Jerry, Assuming there are two, is the spare wheel one the same for every car?      If so, I hope to do a 'scrappy' trip on Monday(if open) and I might be able to find one for V.

I would guess they are all different as they are a security feature?
