VIP Member Mike WK2 Posted July 16 VIP Member Share Posted July 16 It sounds a bit like induction related noise to me. The intake comes in front passenger side above the headlight, I would check from there for any obstruction that could be creating a whistle effect and follow back along all the hoses checking that they are tight and not sucking air from where it shouldn’t be. Maybe even check the air box is sealing properly around the filter, I know I don’t get the best of seals on my box, that could create a whistle as it’s sucking air. Gaths
Hi, thank you for your response, I have checked my hoses the best I can and no obvious defects unfortunately does not do it stationary while reving the engine, only when moving so I can’t stick head under bonnet to pin point it and I don't fancy bonnet surfing to find out, I’ll definitely check air box, thanks again.
VIP Member Mike WK2 Posted July 16 VIP Member Share Posted July 16 I am assuming from your video, you were going quiet slow so exterior wind noise is out the question. will keep thinking, belts etc: are all tight and in good condition ? Gaths
No not fast I only hear it from stationary up to about 40 then normal wind and engine noise is hearable, everything tight, been round car with bits of tape covering slots up, but nothing has ever changed with the vehicle,,,, it’s a puzzler! One way to check for any air leaks is to get a spray bottle and fill it with water and the spray it over the hoses. If there is a change in engine tick over then you may have found the problem. Surfer
Which wind deflectors are you using as we had a similar issue? That whistle could be because the window although closed has a very small gap at the top and the whistle is similar to when you blow across the top of a bottle. Firstly remove the wind deflectors to eliminate them as the cause. We bought a better quality wind deflector called Climair as the previous ones were the clip in type.
