Lee5euk
I'm assuming this could be a common issue but has anyone else had their heated seats (on a JK) just stop working ? My Jeep is a three door version and I'm wondering if a wire could be broken, bent or dis-lodged from when I've let people in and out of the back ? When you press the heated seat button it lights up and then just goes off after about 3 seconds ??
VIP Member Caroline12 Posted February 26 VIP Member Share Posted February 26 Best way to check is to find the heater seat electrical connection, disconnect it and check for continuity with a multimeter or voltage indicator - just on the seat heater. If continuity, then the heater circuit is good. Then you know if it is the seat heater or the electrics to it. the contacts might be dirty and tarnished, spray the connectors with contact cleaner, spray from Halfords/screwfix etc and try again. Check you have +12v to the seat heater, if no voltage to the seat, then check the switch, sometimes the switch fails. If voltage to the switch, but no voltage the other side of the switch when on, the switch has failed, try cleaning, try again. if no voltage to the switch, check the fuse board. hope that helps.

Thank you. If I'm totally honest the only thing I don't like about my Jeep are the front seats. I find them uncomfortable with very little comfortable adjustment. I'm actually thinking of swapping them for a couple of Range Rover L405 ones.
VIP Member Caroline12 Posted February 26 VIP Member Share Posted February 26 I understand that, I test drove a JL, the seats were not comfortable for me, my shoulder touched the door and no room for my left foot, my body felt twisted. The seat was very hard. I love the Wrangler shape and capability, modifications for then etc, I just don’t find it comfortable to drive as my normal vehicle. 10-20 mins is fine. I would change the seat if it uncomfortable.
VIP Member digger Posted February 27 VIP Member Share Posted February 27 (edited) Everyone is different as to what they want from a car. For me , first is reliability, then comfort, especially seat comfort is next. One of the reasons I've had five Jeeps is seat comfort. This is one of the reservations I have about 'upgrading' my WK. I cannot see what the reason is (cost?) for manufacturers installing , what I call 'German style seats' ie hard board like bases, no real padding anywhere and back shapes guaranteed to produce backache! I recently drove an almost brand new BMW X4 for about 100 miles. About £74 k worth! Despite complex adjustment ability I was never comfortable and could barely climb out of the car! Even Volvo, also one of my seat favourites over the years, seem to have gone in this direction recently! As for Landies, take my tip, make sure you ride a good distance in any seat of theirs before you buy/install them! They are not for me! I also own a Range Rover L405 and have driven all over Europe in it. The comfort is amazing hence thinking of putting some Range Rover seats in my Jeep. VIP Member digger Posted February 27 VIP Member Share Posted February 27 No offense intended, Lee. As I said at the beginning everyone is different and as I said at the end 'make sure you ride a good distance in any seat' which you obviously have! Hope your install goes well! I had a big issue with Land Rover re a warranty claim when the car was only 600miles old, that's when I changed to Jeep and have not looked back.

I've had a few Range Rovers and the one I had before my current one had an unlucky fault/problem, which at that point made me lose all faith in the brand. My current one really is excellent all round and without sounding snobby, when I get out of it and get into my Jeep, it makes it feel like a tractor. lol I have my Range Rover for comfort and my Jeep for anything rugged. I've just got to make it a bit more comfy.

I do have my seat pretty far back so foot space is not a problem for me. My husband who is much bigger, does complain about missing the Renegade's spacious front cabin. Its comments like that, that gets him banned from my Jeep 2

Not sure how that sales pitch must go down in the US
VIP Member Raakhee Posted March 1 VIP Member Share Posted March 1 @UKTJ you need to jump into the cabin of the new JL and compare to your TJ. Its far more snug. Even the Renegade has more room up front. I fit just fine though.

I know I am short - but I am not tiny lol - I love the space for me (much shorter than @Caroline12 - she keeps on calling me a hobbit lol) - It has a lot more space compared to the old 110's/90's - I am curious about the new Ineos - great reviews (as a work vehicle) - must try and find one to sit inside 1

V
I think as a current production model Rubicon owner any reasonable sales person trying to sell a vehicle that competes with it would be interested in giving you a test drive of their product.

Totally agree! However there is more behind the scenes, not being Jeep specific! There are many companies in the motor industry who wish to get rid of 'demonstrators' altogether , mainly, they say, because of cost reasons and partly due to time being wasted etc. by 'tyre kickers'. We have a number of dealers around here who will not give anyone a test drive they just offer a road test from XYZ magazine(vested rubbish). Luckily there are alternatives not far away! I have some sympathy with the cost issues claimed plus , from my point of view, their demo car may not be the spec one requires. However some dealers offer a variety of specs which can be ordered from the manufacturer. this has worked for me more than once. Lastly , I will never buy any new car that I cannot drive for at least 100 miles, for seat/backache/comfort reasons. In the trade's defense I have never had any problem with executive model test drives. I consider a test drive to be my wife and I having the car to ourselves for a minimum of half a day and we have often been offered the weekend! ''Interested'' is notable too. I never cease to be amazed how rude and incompetent many 'sales' people are!

I was your way a couple of weeks ago at the fire station for some training - this is the website - https://www.heritagepremium4x4.co.uk/ I like the concept - I would not trade my Rubicon for this one I do not think so (as much as it seems to be a great vehicle)

I never cease to be amazed how rude and incompetent many 'sales' people are! I guess the margins are such on more premium priced vehicles that they can absorb the cost. Maybe also they are the sort of brands that establish a relationship with customers, because again they can afford to invest in that. My neighbour had an Aston Martin DBX for a weekend long test drive. I know he was not that interest in buying it, but he had previously bought another Aston from that dealer, so maybe they just saw it as relationship building for his actual next purchase. We recently changed my wife’s car and bought through Cazoo. Second hand of course, rather than new, no test drive but the option to just take it back within 7 days for a full refund. So looked at one way a 7 day test drive, albeit one with a big security deposit. But more difficult for new cars.
