Administrators stewart Posted February 5 Administrators Share Posted February 5 G'day from down under! So it's been 60,000 Miles (96,000KM) On the Recon Rubi and the old faithful Ball joints have finally shit themselves along with the near side front axle oil seal! I opted for the Teraflex Ball joint replacements as they claim you are set for life as firstly they are adjustable and secondly unlike the factory items not lined with plastic inside! It's a fair size job to do the Axle seals as you have to pull out the axle shafts and also remove the differential assembly ! So far I have pulled it all apart and cleaned the axle tubes out and removed the axle shaft and seals, also installed the new Teraflex Ball joints. More to follow !
BLUE STAR
Yeah my near side seal is weeping a bit They got done 4 years back when the front pinion bearings were replaced. Used Crown seals so that's maybe why I've got an issue ? Just purchased the newer Mopar 2 part seals. Not sure what to do, as Ball joints still OK so don't want to do them just for 'fun' U-Joints also. Going to purchase sets of each so they are handy. Will probably stick with the stock Mopar. Front axle is a D30 on my Sahara, so may just do the seals ??? As you say its a lot of work just to get in there.

Got Mopar oil seals going in Diff all Clean ready to install them! Have been doing a fair amount of corrugated tracks over the last few years so no complaining they really shake the crap out of the Jeep! Last trip we did around 600km Just on back roads all unsealed red dirt and then Mud as it rained very hard!
VIP Member Chrisby Posted February 5 VIP Member Share Posted February 5 I’ve got all Teraflex adjustable ball joints on mine , for the price over the mopar I can’t see why you wouldn’t go for the upgrade. Just a shame that they use a different adjustment tool for the swivel joints than they use for the others . Means you need to keep both handy come MOT time … 5 years in and still spot on .
