Coojeebear
The Jeep has failed me. The auto box seems to have got very confused & it's now on the way to the dealer. Hell of a job loading it in the ice & snow. Error in console screen: Service Trans Press Brake When stopped key off engine to engage park The computer indicates an error which cannot be cleared. It doesn't know it's in Park. Park: Foot on brake, start engine, engine starts, shift to Drive or reverse engage some accelerator pedal & it stalls. It will go to Neutral & run, but go to Drive, Manual or Reverse & it will stall immedtaely it gets any accelerator pedal. During these fail moments, the selection on the gearbox will flash. IE flashing D, Flashing R flashing P.

Coojeebear
Rental vehicle is on it's way to me. The garage say it needs a new Gearbox Neutral sensor.
V
I don't know what sort of job this is on a modern Wrangler, but on my 30 year old XJ Cherokee the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) is external on the side of the transmission. I can remove the NSS for 'servicing' without jacking up the Jeep. The electrical contacts in my NSS get dirty over time and I can no longer start the engine in PARK only in NEUTRAL. Every ten years or so I have to take the NSS apart clean it, lubricate and reseal it. That's roughly an hour's work. If it is not a warranty repair, ask for the old part as it may be restorable.
Coojeebear
Thanks V, but it's definately a warranty repair, so I assume that Jeep will want the part back.

VIP Member tedthefed Posted January 25 VIP Member Share Posted January 25 I had no problem with enterprise. On 2 different wranglers ,but I had what ever vehicle of similar size they had, as I recall at one point they said a Corsa . So spoke with the depot manager and sorted while I waited. if you know the depot ring and see what the manager says , in case Jeep didn’t pass message on . Contact Jeep about not getting a rental. They will put pressure on the garage to arrange this. Its not necessarily Enterprise fault. The garage may not have passed the info to them. Do you have an Enterprise reservation number? If so, let me know and I'll try to see what's happening with your vehicle. Coojeebear
Thank for your offers of help. This has now gone back to Jeep UK & the RAC as well as the dealer. I got a car on Friday from Europcar who came out & delivered a crappy Vauxhall thing. The problem with Enterprise was that at 60 miles, I am outside the delivery area. Enterprice then passed it to Proximo who sourced a vehicle & quoted Enterprise. Enterprise refused the quote & when Jeep asked them to try again, Proximo then had no vehciles. I dont have an Enterprise ref number as I wasnt doing anything. Everyone, Jeep, my garage, Enterprise said dont worry, we'll sort it for you. Phhaaff! Lets screw around a cancer patient. Speaking to the dealer, is seems it is Fiat that does all the organising.

Its why I bought a diesel Clio. They both are quite nippy. But the size difference to a Rubicon is massive.
Coojeebear
Vauxhalls have always been weird to me. I love driving, but Vauxhalls seems to do their best to remove any feedback from the car, very comfy as it glides along. But purposefully designed so that I cannot see any corner from the drivers seat & the steering is like a motor boat. Good news is that I picked up my Jeep yesterday. All fixed it seems, although I'm too chicken to put it into 4WD.
