Tbh i havnt gone wrong with the halfords cool box for something fairly cheap.. It actually works surprisingly well. I pre cool it and add the ice packs- plug into socket in cheap and damn - pretty impressed. Using on trip to Portugal at end of July. Yes its not technically a fridge but you did say only sandwiches! VIP Member TimC Posted June 15, 2022 VIP Member Share Posted June 15, 2022 I have an Alpicool 30litre. It's an actual fridge.....it's off Ebay.......It's Chinese......it's (relatively) cheap, 230 quid I think........it arrived very quickly and it works surprisingly well. Mains or cigarette lighter power. Comes in 3 sizes, I went for the mid range, not sure how it would fit behind the seats in a 2 door, you'd have to measure up. There are tons of people selling it on Ebay, have a look

VIP Member Overlander21 Posted June 15, 2022 VIP Member Share Posted June 15, 2022 If it's genuinely just for sandwiches, I've been using one of these for the last ten years: https://thermos.co.uk/eco-cool-dual-lunch-kit I just chuck one of those blue ice block things from the freezer in with it, stays cold all day
VIP Member Mike WK2 Posted June 15, 2022 VIP Member Share Posted June 15, 2022 I use the same Halfords unit as doodle sent the link for. Use it daily to keep food and drinks cool when working as I’ll spend most the day on the road. works pretty good.
Chris85
We use the Alpicool fridge. As it’s a proper compressor fridge you can set the temperature down to -2 (I think) . It also has its own internal power so if it senses your battery getting low (overnight) it will use its own power. we got ours on Amazon for about £150. Use it all the time.

Are you sure about that internal power thing? Has yours got an internal battery then? Mine does sense the supply power but switches over to an "Eco" mode to protect the external battery if it senses the supply dropping. Great fridge though and actually uses less power than my old outwell coolbox because it's not constantly running. Once it's down to temperature it just sits there unless it needs a top up.
VIP Member MGomes Posted June 16, 2022 VIP Member Share Posted June 16, 2022 We use an Outwell ECOCool 35L Cool Box 12V/230V- https://www.winfieldsoutdoors.co.uk/outwell-ecocool-grey-35l-uk-12v-230v/?gclid=CjwKCAjwqauVBhBGEiwAXOepkXpTB-vm7ng9kQ-WZf3MTSemEfedY58eqoESqjgZ-TlKkfKTl0pTgBoCmO0QAvD_BwE Its bigger than most coolboxes, it has an ice pack (that help everything to stay cool and you can plug it in at home before you leave (or in a campsite if you have electric) and on the 12V plug in the car - fits nicely with the dog crate in the back as well!
