JL Tracker

My Jeep salesman just told me that the JL does not have a tracker. As this is a requirement for my insurance, can anyone suggest which Tracker brand/model they have gone for?

I have a Tracker Locate on my Jeep: https://tracker.co.uk/products/locate  (for some reason that web site is asking me to download fonts or something at the moment).

Also been using the same tracker model on my campervan for many years, handy now as they both show up in the same app too.

Thanks, I have a Tracker on another, infinitely more stealable car.

The insurance (A-Plan) say a Tracker (S5!) must be fitted within 14 days or they cancel. Directline were far more reasonable, asking for 1 month for it to be fitted. Tracker require 15 working days notice to come out & fit.

What are Jeep doing selling cars that need a tracker for insurance & not supplying one in a £58k car!

@Coojeebear not sure all JL’s are being asked for a tracker as part of insurance. Also I would think that A-Plan would be ok if you can show that you have a fitting booked, which branch are you talking too?

@Carlie@Aplanmight be able to help

I used Global Telemetrics in my Land Rover.

Live app on your phone, so you can access its whereabouts, and my friend had his Range Rover Sport recovered by these guys after his keys were stolen.

He didn't have an active account with them. The original owner told him it had a tracker after it was stolen. They enabled it first to make sure it was working, then he paid his subs, and they recovered the vehicle with the Police. Got a conviction on the thief too.

Is it the value that means a tracker is required?

I don't know, A-Plan seem very inflexible. They only have 1 underwriter which covers off-roading. SO If you want off-road cover via A-Plan, you have to get a tracker.

That isn't the case, hence my question.  I have just taken out insurance with A-Plan for my TJ which most definitely does not have a tracker.

Hmm, I was specifically told that by A Plan. Also not any tracker, a £700 S5 than you very much!  I'm tending to like Adrian Flux better. They are more expensive, but no tracker.

@Coojeebear was this via A-plan in Thatcham? It sounds like it’s a combination of risks that are being mitigated by a Tracker. My JKUR is insured by them without a Tracker.

As with lots of things you get what you pay for. Have heard interesting stories regarding AF and claims. Not the easiest to deal with when you need it most.

Any reason you'd not want to protect your £55,000+ Jeep with a £700 quid tracker?

I think 1.3% is a small price to pay for the peace of mind 🙂

No way @John!

I thought I was the only one who did this 🤣

I've got one hidden in the roof box on the camper and another one hidden under the Jeep 😀

Indeed, I think in the Highlands, the chance of theft is low & I don't like the only option being ultra expensive. I was also firstly told by A Plan either S7 or S5, then they changed that to S5 only. As you know, it's not £705, it's that, plus the annual sub - which I already pay for my Impreza - which is a far more desirable car. Why shouldn't I go for the cheaper quote?

@Coojeebear the JL does have a tracker fitted, it is part of the Uconnect services.  However, it is not been activated as there is an issue with over the air software updates in the UK.  When I bought my JL, June 2021, I was told it as was available for the Renegade, Unity were waiting for Jeep UK to advise when the over air software update issue had been resolved and the full range of Uconnect services will be available.

With regards to A-plan expecting a tracker to be fitted.  They told me the same at the time of renewal.  I went to NFU mutual for a quote.  They were cheaper and didn't require me to have a tracker fitted.

I switched insurance providers

These are the prices I got: (new Rubicon, Scottish Highlands)

Direct line (no off road cover, no tracker): £384.00

NFU: 735.09 (off-road, no tracker)

A-Plan: £440.00 (off-road, Tracker cat 6 required)

Adrian Flux: £575.00 (off-road, no tracker)

Adrian Flux it is!

I'm now the proud new owner of a 2-door Rubicon. Adrian Flux ended up charging me £601 (grrrrr).

Wrangler User Manuals are out of stock at the moment...!!! What does the P! parking button do? Plus the buttons on the rear of the steering wheel?

P! Button turns the parking sensors on/off

Left rear steering wheel button is for audio track/station up/down

Right rear steering wheel button is volume up/down, centre is for mute

Hmmm... what happened to the one that shipped with your Jeep? 🤔  It should have come in a nice little camo-bag too.

Did you get the toolkit??

Congrats on the new arrival though, exciting times 😀

They are out of stock of manuals. I got the tiny toolkit & the windscreen sensor cover. They will post my manuals to me when they get them.
