Great event - thank you for organising it!

@spookie the aardvark - thank you for the lift and coffee, with Hank @ the dealership this would have been a great miss for me! @Raakhee Great to experience the Renegade - amazing how such different cars behave in these scenarios!

Really glad everyone enjoyed themselves and thanks for the comments regarding the event and the work put in by the team to set up and run days like this. Events and the effort,  only work if you all enjoy yourselves.

Thought I would just add an action shot of 3 of the team from yesterday…….

I'd just like to add my thanks to those behind the organisation of the event today, my first JOC event, but absolutely not my last.  Everyone was so welcoming and helpful to a complete novice, what a fabulous bunch.

I'd like to thank Digger in particular.  He took the time to take me out and show me some of the basics and his reward was a ding in his bodywork and a broken halfshaft which put an end to his driving today within the first hour.

Hi all, many thanks to those who put in all the work!

Had a gr8 time but a very different ,unexpected day for me. Still,  met lots more folk than I've met before and I was given some gr8 rides. Cheers everyone!

For those who haven't had a good laugh already, yours truly took a new member,Terry (silver TJ) for a ride and another (Cameron + Ben) following behind for a few basic tips.

On the way we saw Tom having fun and stopped for a piccy or ,as it turned out, two or three or....!  '' Old git says , how about if I do it and would you take some pics please'' ''No prob!'' What did I do, exactly what I'd just told Terry and Cameron , not to do! Dong! My excuse is,last time I was here I had done all of this area without any trouble! So, I drove down to the bottom and went up the gully, without looking to see that the hole in the bottom was now considerably deeper than before! Nearly made it but going too slow resulting in a fail and stuck in hole tried to get out(almost )and (I think)  at this point breaking a front drive shaft) causing a second retreat back through hole and out. Forward again trying to bridge rut with hole but slid o/S into rut causing a bit of an issue. Oh dear!

Many thanks to Tom for winching me out and thanks too to young Ben who took some gr8 pics! Cameron too for helping maintain my equilibrium!

ps I gained a dent from rolling backwards  into a tree. Annoying. At the time I thought I had brake failure too because the 'brake pedal' went to the floor with no result. However, with hindsight I now think the truth is, that I had slid across the seats as we started to move back and was sat on  Terry. In the  heat of the discomfort my foot found the clutch, not the brake!  Bother, must remember not to do that again!

Ah well , could have been worse.  Regear brought forward a few weeks! Stronger driveshafts too I guess!

Thanks too to Spookie and Mannie for assisting me as well. Don't those WJs have comfy seats!

A few pics top to bottom.

Cameron going for it. Tom in action. Cameron working hard! Cameron getting an even better view! Tom doing the business.  Gerry G having fun.

Terry's first dip! Now Cameron!   Wary Spooky! Tom having fun too! What another fantastic JOC turnout !

Great to hear you had such a good time on your first off roading trip👍👍

Don't worry about getting stuck it's all part of the game ......................... if your not getting stuck  - your not learning/trying hard enough 🤣🤣🤣
