None of my GCs have had locking front differentials, though the WJ had the lesser spec of QuadraTrac/Drive. The WK just used traction control at the front, with the higher spec; the rear LSD and TC gave it good performance on rocks and sand, though I came to use Low Ratio less and less when I got used to the diesel engine grunt and five speed auto.

WK2s, even with air suspension, seem to run quite well with one wheel airborne; just as well, since they don't have amazing suspension travel. However, the net result is good off road performance, if the Australian experience is anything to go by. Their biggest problem is the 'air dam' at the front. It's very low, but if removed, leaves the oil cooler and windscreen wash bottle very exposed. If I wanted to do any serious stuff with rocks, I'd get a steel bumper from the US or Oz. I think the Trailhawk is better protected as standard, but I've never even seen a real one.

my GC WJ 4.7 has quadradrive on both axles, and it does make it very capable off road, also there is not the same problem of a low front skirt, i have never really used the WJ for serious off roading, as we have tricked up wranglers for that,  and even though the JK has Rubicon axles with diff locks, for rock crawling the brake lock traction control is very effective, and keeps the maneuverability at slow speeds on rocks, which diff locks doesn't give you, i just wondered if the GC trailhawk was much different mechanically than the std jeep GC.
