Now they are some meaty shackles Spookie. Loving the colour.

I didn't know the club was selling this stuff until I read about these yesterday. I have posted up about the Hitch receiver as I need one of those and hopefully the club will get some more in. Quite fancy red though on mine.

Jeep as ever is looking good 👍🏻

Cheers TazMann much appreciated 😁 I must admit i wanted the red  shackles but Gear America dont ship to the UK 😭 - only sell through Amazon, and they didn't do the red ones, so when I saw these for sale from the club shop thought they would do the business and they do - very happy with them.

The jeep is getting there slowly and is still a work in progress .................. but there again I guess most of them are 🤣🤣🤣

If your after a red hitch receiver Gear America are selling them on Amazon:

I think the club just does the black ones, but I am sure with enough pleading and begging, they may be able to source different colours :rsz_img16:.

Must admit i would want a red hitch reciever for the front and back of mine

Cheers that's very handy to know, they are a great bit of kit and a lot lighter than the ones I have at the moment 👍

Over the long bank holiday weekend I thought it was high time to get some of the jobs done on the Aardvark that I have been meaning to do for a while, nothing major just small jobs.

Change the bonnet struts as they were looking a bit rusty - found some cheap ones on "that auction site" and really easy and quick to do. 😁

Change the number plates as they were past their best - new front and back plates purchased from Halfords, now made of metal instead of plastic. Front was changed really easily and then it was the turn of the back 😁. Having removed the old number plate and laid it over the new one to get the positions for drilling the hole, found the new plate was smaller than the old one. Yes the new plates only come in one size and the new one didn't cover holes in the tailgate for the American style plate holder 😡. As luck would have it i had been given a naff front bumper complete with fog lights and front number plate holder, saved the plate holder and fog lights and binned the rest. Knowing the new number plate fitted the front with no problem out came the angle grinder and i trimmed the back down untill it fitted the tailgate, problem solved 😁👍.

Removed the remains of the old redundent air filter box with plans to try and get a battery holder that will fit in the space using the same holes. The cunning plan being to fit a second battery at some point. Not sure if i will have to try and find a second battery holder from the States or if one from a WG CRD will fit as it looks like the batteries in the CRDs are on the opposite side to the V8s. If anyone knows as usual all advice gratefully received 🤔😁.

Finally got round to getting the tow bar electrics sorted out and connected into the Jeeps wiring system. So much easier with the wiring and plug that Jeep thoughtfully supplied already installed, why dont most manufactures do the same thing? Makes life so much easier, even if you do have take most of the back of the Jeep apart to get to it 🥰😁.

Last but not least decided to give the inside a right good clean out, hoovering all the carpets and polishing everything that wasn't nailed down. Finished it off by cleaning and treating all the leather seats - I can now understand why a lot of people prefer fabric seat coverings 😁.

Back to work for a rest :rsz_img16:

Cheers Raakhee 👍

You had to find that photo 🤣🤣 Me stuck like a barsteward, about 3 or 4 times in the same place before I gave it up as a bad job 🤣🤣

Hopefully things will be different this time but have not had the time or place to try out the new mods yet (thank you Covid 😡) - so watch this space - and get the camera ready :rsz_img16:

At least it's not the photo of me spinning wheels and going nowhere fast 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not only did I find the photo I was standing right there watching you dig yourself deeper 😆

Don't worry, if you down for Summer Camp we both will have new mods to try out. I've just added lifting springs to my Renegade and will be adding bigger tyres soon.

The moral of that story is ....................... when your in a hole - STOP DIGGING 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Those new springs have given you a lot more room under the arches and look amazing, can't wait to see the new tyres as well 👍 Your Renegade is looking great 🥰

Come hell or high water I will be at Summer Camp again this year so we both get to try out our new mods 😁 ........................... and maybe you get to laugh at me two years running 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just got back from picking up a new bit for one of the Jeeps (not sure which one it will live in yet) A proper rigid Jeep load liner specifically for the WG. Won it on "that auction site" for the princely sum of £5.00 and local too - talk about "falling on your feet" once in a while. 🤣🤣🤑

In the back of the CRD untill I can decide where its going to live 🤔

Well Aardvark and myself were ment to be at CarNatter today but some idiot (me) went and booked her in for an MoT on the same day 🤮 so that ment missing out on what seems to have been a fantsatic day judging by the photos already posted 🤢🤮 So the MoT is booked for 1330 and a few hours beforehand I decide to check all that is checkable to stop a stupid fail.

Think Aardvark got in a right sulk about not getting to meet all her friends as when I checked all the lights found the left turn indicator didn't work - bulbs are all ok as hazards work - take the whole indicator multi function swith out and change it for the one in the CRD - still no left indicators.

Yes the flasher relay had decided now was the time to through it's legs in the air, so after swearing a lot and Googling where the relay was ............. and swearing a lot more out comes the tools to take the big bit of plastic in front of the fuses to get at the relays (sorry Fourpot no fire or big hammers used - although it was a very close run thing ⚒️🔥)

trust me when I say the space to try and get your hand in to pull the relay out is tiny, but after some more swearing out it came. To add insult to injury (bruised knuckles) local mor factor didn't have one and couldn't even find it on their system.

At this point I am an hour from the MoT time, swearing like a trooper and now have only one alternative left .............................................. Take all the same bits out of the CRD and rob the flasher relay out of her, as I know that one works, and put it in Aardvark.

Sounds nice and simple doesn't it? It was up to the point of trying to fit the relay back into the holder - big hands, small space and much more swearing. Just as I was prepared to beat it to death with the biggest hammer I could find it finally slotted in. Test it all - all working. Mad rush to get all the bits bolted back on and down to the MoT centre - made my time slot with minutes to spare.

And the good news is she passed and has another 12 month ticket 🙌🙏👏 So worth it in the end ............................... MAYBE.

Would anyone know a good place to order a new one from?

The offending relay:

The flasher module is the same as the Chrysler Voyager if you are looking for a used part. UK/EU prices seem to vary from £20-£80.

An alternative is an after market part from Rockauto.com

WVE 1R2187 cost £24.57 plus shipping and VAT (Always choose Fedex for shipping)

Don't forget 5% JOC discount, search on here for latest code.

This has reminded me I still need a selection of relays for my toolkit spares. Glad you passed the MOT. Always reminds me of check ups at the dentist - everything was fine going in, pain and empty wallet coming out.

Trust me mate I would not want to try and change that relay in the field 🤣🔥⚒️ If that was the case I would learn hand signals ........................... but they wont allow hand signals in the MoT ............. bar stewards 🤣🤣🤣

How are the jeeps doing Spooky? You must have some jolly exhausting ephemeral problem with at least one of them by now? 😁

Hi mate how you doing?

I guess it is time for a bit of an update on the twins 🤔

The 4.7 V8 is behaving itself like a good un (that's gotta be the kiss of death) Took her up to Speedfest and she behaved perfectly 😃 Can't beat a good V8

The 2.7 CRD on the other hand has developed a problem with number one injector. It's a simple job for the mechanic to fix so it was arranged I would drop it off at the garage last Saturday so he could work on it when he could - best laid plan of mice and men and all that. Went to start her Saturday morning and she spat her dummy out the pram and refused to start 😡🤮 No matter how much swearing or sweet talking I did she was not going to start😡😡

Been working like a dog all week - bosses don't understand Jeep owners 🤣 So this weekend time to try again and see if it's a fuel issue or maybe the immobiliser. Wish me luck because I think it will involve even more swearing 😤🙄🤐🤯

The 2.7 is a great engine apart from the injector issues which I think are the seals. A merc independent specialist should sort it. My cousin got a million miles out of his in his commercial pick up.

Yeh seems to be a commen fault with these and Sprinter engines 😤 My mechanic seems to think it it the retaining bolt is the issue and the repair is to drill out the hole, heli coil it and put a bigger bolt in. otherwise the injector itself is fine which is good news 👍

Now just have to spend some time tomorrow getting her started 🤣
