I eventually decided to bite the bullet and invest in a JK..

Got a spotless 2dr Rubicon Recon (as my garage is just that big)  The Recon version got a few upgrades from the standard Rubicon, and only 50 of them in the UK

Now for the next big step.. selling my beloved TJ .. ;(

Nice upgrade Arno! Looks great in granite crystal!

Thx Alex!  This is a stunning colour, not sure I've seen it before.  I like the Rubicon decal, the background shows all the additional upgrades Jeep added on 😉

I'm thinking down the lines of a 2.5" lift from AEV, read that some ppl say a 3.5" is better ?  Is this not to much for the drive train on a 2dr?

But thx for the offer, might drop you a line re advice or even help 😉

Seems like a picture does not always speak a 1000 words ..

Jeep is a tat over 1.8m ... garage opening is 2m

Nice choice Arno, well done, and one of only 46 x2dr officially imported into UK by Jeep UK.

Have 3.5” lift and 35” tyre on my 4dr Recon. Covers all my options....daily drive, long distance tourer, off-roader.....perfect.

Aldermaston will be a perfect event to initiate the JK? See you there?

Picture of mine on day one of ownership at Aldermaston.....75 miles new.....straight from Horsham Jeep showroom.

Arno, the one above I posted is 2.5” and 35x12.50 r17, to be honest 3.5” is perfect on the 4 door but I would stick to 2.5” on the two door JK! The height would also be under 2m on this setup... I run 3.5” and 37s and it’s around 197cm!

Cheers Tony!

So your tyre size is roughly 33" .. I'm looking at 35", so extra 25mm higher then .. still well within clearance 😉

Really nice Arno, emotional to move on from the TJ I'm sure, but will be good to get a full trip completed with you for once with more reliability!

🤔 hmm, I remember that, last Salisbury Plains trip wasn’t it? It’ll still have the SA flag on it though I bet 😁

You know where we are if you need any help or advice Arno!

We had a customer with exactly the same but in white! He wanted to keep the original look somewhat and not detract to far from it, but at the same time increase the off road capabilities... see below some pics of his.

Alex,

can't see any rear fogs on the AEV bumper.  What did you fit?

We supplied the parts to this particular customer, he has since fitted fogs... we normally use recessed fogs as you know 🙂

Gone to Cornwall the weekend with the Jeep and very impressed with the fuel, got an avg of 26.5mph (according to the dash readout), sticking to 70mpg on the motorways..  just need to get use to the automatic 😉
