The Mrs asked how much it cost

I'm a massive Jeep fan and have been driving them for a number of years now. My last few Wranglers were taken on a few pay and play days but the thoughts of damage to a new wrangler stopped me pushing them to the limit. I've always been a fan of the XJ and with the price going up on the older wranglers (how i wish i'd kept my old ones) I started looking for a clean XJ to add some parts and really enjoy the mud and woods with out the worry of getting a few new dents.

I found a really nice XJ that had been looked after and had a winch plus lift kit for £1800. I got her home with the intention of just enjoying her and not spending any more. Within a few days i decided to replace the radiator, water pumps and have the engine fully serviced. Then it was a steering upgrade to a heavy duty kit, Next came a new lift kit, extended arches, diff guards, respray, take the carpet out and repair the rust and respray and thats just a few bit.

Well last night while walking down to the public house with the Mrs she asked about the Jeep and how much I'd now spent on it. With a slight cough i said a few hundred. The look i got showed she didn't believe but as it's brought me so much enjoyment it's worth it. I think I'll move the bills folder to my shed so she doesn't stumble across the real cost............

You only have one life. Enjoy it.

………..but never, EVER, start to add up the cost of what you spent on all those little, and not so little, 'essentials' for your Jeep ?
