VIP Member TimC Posted July 11, 2018 VIP Member Share Posted July 11, 2018 ...and went for a “proper lift”. Been running a 1.5” Teraflex Leveling kit on the JKU for the last 18 months or so, and while it’s been fine and done the job Ihave been getting a bit ‘itchy’ so went down to see Alex at Buzz Special Vehicles for a chat about what AEV goodies I might like. I know I have said this before but Alex is such a nice guy, doesn’t pressure sell, gives good advice and knows his stuff. Although we priced up a few upgrade options I went for the AEV dualsport 2.5” lift. Although it means I CAN run bigger tyres I have ( at the moment) no plans to change, I’m still running 265/70R17 on the stock rims,as in pics, and 285/70R17 on 17x8 ATX ravine rims which I got from Alex over the last couple of years. I asked Alex to do the fitting becvasuse I know he does a proper job, so dropped it in with him Tuesday morning and picked it up later in the afternoon, all done as it should be. As said, I’m not changing tyres, and it’s only an inch taller than before, however the real difference is the RIDE, it is a huge change over the stock with the spacers that I had, it just feels so positive , so set and posed on the road, Even more of a pleasure to drive than usual, I was smiling all the way home Can’t wait to see what it’s like off road on the Coopers. Did also sneak in a tailgate table too while I was there . a before pic and a couple of after. I\’ll try to post up some pics of the underside later while it’s still clean!
jeepjimboy
Dualsport 2.5 now you'll ride like mine Tim , except for the gaps above the tyres. You'll get there mate. I found it took a few miles to settle in, but well worth it. Nice one.

Cheers Jim, “the gaps above the tyres” yes I think it will look better with the Coopers on but will stick with the Radar ATs for road use for now as now have no money! Love the way it drives though. Some more pics of the installed lift. I know, it’s just shocks and springs but shows the marking up of the bolts as a check for retorquing which is a nice touch, does a thourough job does Alex. I've just got the Smittybilt version. When folded up you can hang any molle pack off of it

I have the same tailgate table as you, its great just a little slippery if you park on a slope - keep hold of your beers!

Management Volant165 Posted July 18, 2018 Management Share Posted July 18, 2018 Good Choice Tim C. Loving the dualsport on mine. 3000 miles in the last 8 days and it served me well at 114 mph on the autobahn and axle twisting in the alps.
