Got myself a £1200 oil leak with a free Jeep thrown in.

Just got my first Jeep, a 4.0 Orvis Gas powered Grand Cherokee 1998.

My shopping list is already growing, and so is the black pool on my lawn.

I will start a progress thread soon, and start pestering for second hand parts like an electric sunroof as mine makes nasty noises.

Oil leaks used to be advantageous to Jeeps for preventing corrosion however since the MoT changed they are now something you have to fix. I am working through mine this week; rocker cover, oil filter adapter, oil pressure sensor, rear main bearing seal... the list seems to be growing.

I saw someone (Ricer Miata on youtube - just got a Jeep also) do the rear main just dropping the sump, and it is a split 2-piece one, so just needed a suitable tool for pushing it round and out.

I haven't cleaned under mine yet to see where it is all coming from, but that will be high on my list of jobs. There also seems to be water dripping out from the front right side, need to look at that first....

Well the leak is coolant (by that I mean engine blow-by, mayonnaise, froth and a little coolant).

Guess what my first big job is.......

A clue, the sunroof I bought at the weekend will have to wait....
