Hi all,

I just purchased my first Cherokee XJ today! 1998 4.0 limited. That engine sound is sublime...that exhaust rattle not so.

I'm sure I'll be online soon looking for advice on how to replace different parts.

Welcome. Lovely looking motor.

Everything will be fine as long as you have deep pockets and a large overdraft arranged with your bank!

Seriously, lots of bits and pieces can be obtained from various sources without breaking the bank, OE replacements and second hand. Just do a bit of googling before parting with your hard earned, or ask on here.

Thank you. It puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it.

Changed the front pads today and  the to do list is:

Catalytic converter & exhaust

Rear leaf springs

Abs light to investigate- pump castic is corroded so I suspect that

Rocker cover gasket

I probably could’ve spent an extra £600 for a cleaner model, but this gives me something to do:)

The to do list never ends... as one thing is ticked off, another two appear. Especially once you get into the 'mods' frame of mind!  My XJ cost me £800, I've spent ten times that since and probably another £5K still to go! :icon_e_surprised:

Welcome fellow XJ kinsman,

If you are looking for a good sounding street legal exhaust that wont annoy your neighbours or give you or your passengers a headache, take a look at the Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow. There are a few stockists in the UK and Germany.
