Fuel consumption meter

My 1997 XJ 4.0 Ltd doesn't have an MPG function (not one that I've found anyway). So I'm thinking of fitting some kind of aftermarket meter or flow meter that I can see from the driver's seat, ideally something that can work out speed/distance (by GPS or plugging it in to the ECU somewhere) and give me MPG or just amout flowed from the tank so I can work it out. Trying to guestimate is proving inaccurate as the fuel gauge is not that clever.

I can't find anything currently available on the tinterweb... Anyone any ideas or use something on these lines?

Isn’t that the sort of thing it’s sometimes better to be innocently ignorant of? You’ll only go and depress yourself :icon_neutral: it is a Jeep after all.

Ha ha, yes you're right. I'm on a work trip from South Cheshire to Workington in Cumbria... I've borrowed 'er indoors' Mitsubishi L200 pick-up - 46mpg up the M6.  :icon_eek:
