Recently discovering that the price of (an old) Grand Cherokee is within  my budget, and the presence off a good specialist a couple of hours or so away - near Keighley, my long relationship with Citroens seems to be coming to an end. Having weighed up the pros and cons, I'll be off to look at a second (2001 WJ) Grand Cherokee in a couple of days. If all goes well, expect questions later !

Welcome to Jeep Owners Club.

Hope it is a V8 high output (HO) GC overland.

Maybe a little biased towards that model I guess!

Thanks for the welcome.  I expect to be back eventually probably with lots of questions.

By the way, the one I'm going to look at is a silver Grand Cherokee Limited, 4 Litre Petrol.  So I presume  aka a Straight 8 ?

If it's a 4.0 it'll be the straight 6 cylinder [emoji1360][emoji1360]

Too late - it's gone.  Next candidate is a black '03 Grand Cherokee 2.7 Crd Overland.  Interest expressed, as they say.  Fervently hoping its still available on Saturday.  Reassuringly no advisories on the very recent Test Certificate.

Good luck. Check for leaking injector seals as the back one is a mofo to get out!

Thanks for the valuable advice, Dave. I would never have known to make that check. Driving  across the Humber Bridge (and back) is an ambition of mine - now hopefully in a Jeep  :icon_bounce:

Just checked that the black '03  2.7L CRD Grand Cherokee Overland(5 owners, 178,900 recorded miles ) which I had planned to go see on Saturday (May6) is still available, and will be mine tomorrow for collection this coming Sunday  if all goes well  :icon_bounce:

First impressions (from someone who's has neither ever been behind the wheel of any 4 x 4 up to now, nor driven any vehicle with an automatic transmission.  Wish me luck, then as I drive it the 16 miles  home.  :icon_eek:

It'll be fine, just don't throw it into a corner like a bimmer or you'll be shitting bricks  :icon_eek: :icon_eek:  :great:

Like Jimbo said, but don't worry too much as they are pretty good for an old school 4x4, better through the corners than many other vehicles of the same age just so long as you don't expect a sports car. Had mine a couple of years and even now on a 2 inch lift it is a confident cornerer. The diesels pull really well too and you will be thankful when it comes time to fill up. As for leaking injectors they do all get them but they have likely been done a good while back at that mileage so should be OK. Best tell is a smell of exhaust coming in through the vents especially when pulling away from cold. Best of luck.
