A good choice of parts and one worth taking time over.

Will be a good daily drive, and a useful pleasure / leisure JKR

All sounds very exciting Neal :icon_bounce: :icon_bounce:

My suggestion for tyres would be BFG KO2 - really great for a daily driver and a hybrid AT for your adventures.Look forward to hearing what you choose and to seeing the build progress :great:

Thanks Kerry,

KO2's are on the list, well they were till we went to pick up bits from Alex and saw the STT Pro's

Now I just can't decide.

The STT pro are a great tyre and have remarkably good road manners for an aggressive MT. My only concern with them (as Alex knows) is that they have a "K" speed rating - which means "up to 68 mph" ... a small concern for a daily driver. But hey, as the saying goes, you pays your money and you take your choice. Are they available in the size you want? Alex's are 37" - that also affects the visual impact :alien:

We all love a good tyre debate :glasses:

Kerry,

Yes a tyre debate is always good.....

The STT Pro's in a 37 have a K rating. I'm looking at 315/70R17 which come with a Q rating, or 99mph.

The Rubicon original tyres are rated as an S, 112mph.

So the STT Pro's in the size I'm after are just 2 ratings lower.

Anything with a speed rating of 70mph is just for show........ no one drives over the limit do they, especially in a lifted JK  :na:

Q is fine ... my KO2's are S ... but not thinking of testing them up to their limit :gasp:

As to breaking the speed limit

Actually you are right, that does not happen too often in my Rubicon ... maybe on some downhill stretches, with wind assistance :icon_mrgreen:

Await your choice with interest ...

  • 1 month later...

A little pre work this weekend before some of the more major changes hopefully next weekend.

Rear number plate looks better on the AEV wheels than stock, but they need some rubber.

Just waiting on some parts to come back from the paint shop having been line-x'd  :glasses:

I like it Neal, I think I'll be putting my numberplate there too soon, I like the spare without a tyre, looks hilarious!

Thanks Harry,

Yes without the rubber the rim looks really odd. I could not wait till after the tyres go on. Have to grab time when it's available

Looking good Neal, nice mounting location for the RIGID chase as well  :great:

Thanks Alex,

Will look better when it's on the AEV wheel as it sits too proud on the stock one.
