How many dangers can you spot on this clip at a open Pay and Play day! This is why we hire the site for you and have winch training etc...

On the upside, at least his winch actually works when it's needed, Stewart....  :icon_mrgreen:

It looks like they are using synthetic rope so plus points for that but I'm sure I saw the Grand's winch bumper bend when the XJ snatched the rope.

 

My observations...

Not communicating the plan to all involved in the recovery before starting.

Not warning bystanders to keep a safe distance in case of breakage or pulling a tree down.

Not free spooling the line out.

Not using a tree strap.

Using the winch rope as a recovery rope.

That was a long time ago !! Slab Common ? Itmay have been safer if their winch hadn't been working to all concerned ! It could have all started badly with the Pickup's recovery effort and his tow ball !

Putting the rope on the towball.....too many videos about those snapping and ending up inside someone's head
