looking at getting my sahara diesel regeared from 3.21 to probably 4.10 to restore the performance lost when fitting my 33.3" toyo muds. can anyone recommend a good place to have the work carried out in the south east? preferably a 4x4 specialist . i can source the parts and kits from Jeepey but need them installed and im not going to try it myself!

thanks

Yukon Gear in US have a good reputation for reliability as far as Gears go!

You might want to consider upgrading the front axle shafts while at it on the D30 Axle.

I'll leave to the other club members to give recommendations on installers though.

I had Yukon gear on my TJ when the previous owner re-geared.

As far as installers go 4 play jeep at Grantham would be able to do it, worth checking if Paul at PB customs would do it or jeep care in Enfield

are you sure you need to re-gear, if you are only going up from 32's to 33's, unless you are thinking of going up to 35's later, if you are not going to 35's I would not bother. Also be careful jumping from 3.21 to 4.10, with a D30, as said by Stewart, by gearing down that much, it will make a lot of difference to the load on the rest of the axle.

Well if there is another way of getting throttle response /power back I'd appreciate the heads up. The auto box jumps all over the place trying to find some grunt. If it's going to cause more issues I shan't bother.

Your 1st step is to get an AEV pro~cal. This unit will let you calibrate the auto box to the tyre size your running plus lots of other features like running lights ' speedo correction for tyre size.

Forget regearing for that small change, get your JK remapped.

Google zensport and ask for Iggy.

Was thinking a pro cal could help.

What's the deal with remapping a JK 2011+ anyone done it experienced any issues?

Ecu has to be cracked open on 2011 onwards. Not mappable via the obd so its not a prefered option... to be honest i would regear it rather than remapping. 2007 saharas have 4.10 in a dana 30 and there don't seem to be to many issues, unless you abuse them.  Another thing you can try for throttle response is a sprint booster.

Pro-cal is a must though for gear changes as bob has already said. though you had this already steve or would have suggested it before when we spoke.

If all else fails you can always trade it in for one of Stewart's nice new Hydro Blue Rubicons, All your problems solved at a stroke, Dana 44s, 4.10 Gears, 285HP  :icon_e_biggrin: now it's just a question of the money.............. I'm sure if you ask nicely :icon_e_wink:
