Jeep Renegade event

My daughter and I went to the Jeep Renegade event at Bicester. It was the first time that I had driven over obstacles in a 4x4 of any kind. I'm used to watching where I am driving, but today was different putting my trust in the marshalls and their gestures. As I have never done owt like this, it soon felt second nature watching the marshalls. I managed to blag a second go around the course as I enjoyed it that much. On the first run it was the instructor that played with the 4x4 settings and I drove. On the second run I was in control of the settings with a different instructor. I told him the first instructor changed the 4x4 settings, so he let me do them myself. Driving at a forty five degree angle was strange. The nearest I have got to that is leaning a motorbike into a corner. Going high on the bridge obstacle was something else. Unfortunately I was unable to look down as I was paying attention to the marshall. I didn't want to fall off and wreck a Jeep Renegade! The hill descent control was strange, as I have never gone down hill before with no feet on the pedals.

The batman car from the new film was there. It was massive. Apparently two were built at over $1,000,000 each. They are powered by jeep engines.

I had a fantastic time and would like to do something like this again.

My motability lease is up in March 2019 and I want a Renegade 4x4 now. I was going to get another fwd one, but after experiencing today, I want to go to the next level.

I wish there were more photos of the obstacles, both inside and outside. Blame my daughter, she took the pics.

My Renegade is only fwd :icon_cry:  Wish I had gone for a 4x4 one now. When I went for the Renegade, I had no intention of going off road and as I don't live somewhere that I have to travel five miles on rough terrain before I get to a main road, I had no need for a 4x4. Until now. I am hoping to make the meeting at Whitecliff Quarry, Coleford, in May. Not as a driver as I only have a fwd, but to watch and learn. My body is fine after yesterday, which I'm glad about.  I do have a lot of arthritis, so was expecting more discomfort than usual, but I haven't.

Glad you had fun Kevin and that the body didn't punish you too much :great:

Now you have the bug ... on to the next step(s) :glasses:

Looks like a good event, we have also been really impressed with our renegade, nothing quite like 45degree slopes and obstacles, but its putted things out of mud and gone down a few nasty slopes and I agree that hill descent is very unnerving!

Cracking little cars these renegades

My daughter has just sent me more photos from yesterday. It would have been better if my daughter had been out of the Renegade when I did the second run and taken photos of what I was doing. Oh well, I know next time.

I took the last pic of mine next to another yellow Renegade. I have a thing about yellow Tonka toys. Sorry, yellow Jeep Renegades :icon_e_biggrin:

Cheers for the write up ...would of love to have went to this but nearly 5hrs away  :icon_e_sad: gotta love a solar renegade though  :icon_rr: but why Jeep insist on silver grills for the Limited I'll never know  :icon_rolleyes: Th renegade looks so much cooler with the black grill .. I had ours swapped out before it left the dealer

It was a 2hr 40min each way drive for me and well worth it. Most of the time my Renegade does short runs which occasionally stretch to fifteen or twenty miles, so a motorway jaunt does it good

I'm not keen on the silver grille on the Limited model and mirror caps and neither are a lot of others.

No problem. MY daughter does facebook, I don't and this morning she sent me the pics of the two of us that Jeep put on their facebook. We had three photos, one each and one with the two of us. In the pic you will see why I got 'four legs' :icon_e_biggrin:

Always nice to see a Rene put through its paces... looks like someone has caught that Jeep bug bad - it happens to us all at some point!
