Platinum Member Maverick23 Posted January 8, 2016 Platinum Member Share Posted January 8, 2016 Fitted the Osram Kerry...brilliant compared with OEM. Nice and white and noticeably brighter. Driving down a few local country lanes and it was almost like having proper headlights! [emoji3] Thanks for the feedback Steve ... Your project is certainly coming along - and looking good :great:

Platinum Member Rolf Posted January 8, 2016 Platinum Member Share Posted January 8, 2016 It does look great, you can certainly see why so many people go for that look, great product. I wonder how long until Jeep market a JK in the UK with all the AEV kit on it, it would certainly save a load of work and scrap OEM bumpers, even has an environmental spin on it. Administrators stewart Posted January 8, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 8, 2016 EU pedestrian safety laws have put a stop to that! But it's ok to get hit by a 40 tonne truck!

Platinum Member Oddball Posted January 8, 2016 Author Platinum Member Share Posted January 8, 2016 Am properly knackered but seriously happy. Will be digging out the DLSR tomorrow to do this wee beasty appropriate justice. Key notes; AEV bumper is something else. Wasn't sure if I should mount it on the Jeep or hang it on the sitting room...what a piece of engineering. The pictures don't do the Savagre rims justice; I was a hair away from switching to Salta's...sure they are equally as nice in the flesh but I am in love with the Savagre, they just look right on the Jeep. Lastly, 15 quick miles on the ATZ's, virtually zero road noise which is phenomenal considering the depth and spacing of the tread; seriously aggressive for an AT. Great road manners / grip...and they look the business! Finally fitted the wheel carrier...lifting 100lb+ of wheel up to chest height elicited some interesting sounds! Pictures to follow... Platinum Member Vuck Roger Posted January 8, 2016 Platinum Member Share Posted January 8, 2016 Steve, keep it coming, it is looking good! Can you take a picture of your tyres and how close the are: 1) from the pinch seam in the rear wheels, 2) the front bumper. I am 99% convinced the ATZ P3 on a 315/70 is the way to go with the AEV wheels, but I am a bit concerned about the clearances (without using the hammer!) Thanks! Really taking shape Steve ... impressive transformation :great: By the way, the Mickey Thompson ATZ P3's are a hybrid tyre - in between an AT and MT. They are based on the Cooper ST Maxx tyre ... Cooper own Mickey Thompson & Dick Cepek. If they made the ST Maxx in the correct size for the UK market, they would have been my choice. The ATZ P3's are a newer tyre ... so could possibly be even better ... but the ST Maxx is one tough tyre. Great choice and good to hear you are happy with them :great:
Platinum Member Oddball Posted January 9, 2016 Author Platinum Member Share Posted January 9, 2016 Steve, keep it coming, it is looking good! Hugo Of course Hugo...as soon as the rain stops! There are no rubbing issues. I wouldn't want to go any bigger than 315/70/17 on a 2 inch lift though. With a reasonable loading (bumper and spare) and at 34psi per corner the tyres sit 33 & 3/4 inches tall and 12.5 wide. The back spacing on the AEV rims sit the tyre perfectly in the arch, the sidewalls protrude about 3/4 an inch but the flare sits just above the tread. When you then get underneath there is stacks of clearance. If you go a similar route I suggest a gym membership. I damaged my struggling strings getting a c.100lb wheel onto the back door. I suspect I will need a pair of hinges if I don't get it onto the AEV carrier soon. They are beasts of wheels when built up. The tyre carrier may come sooner than expected though given that there is sufficient clearance into the garage door for the short rack without changing the door [emoji3]. I ran the original ATZ on a TD5...loved them so this wasn't a hard decision.
Platinum Member 46stm Posted January 9, 2016 Platinum Member Share Posted January 9, 2016 Looking fantastic :great: I'd recommend the tyre carrier from AEV works perfectly and is designed for all those extras that you will need, I mean "want" :icon_lol:
Platinum Member fen01 Posted January 10, 2016 Platinum Member Share Posted January 10, 2016 So are these OSRAM H4 considered the best "replacement bulbs" for a JK at the moment? Not sure I want to go the LED or HID route ... but brighter lights would be a welcome addition. Can you also get upgrade bulbs for the fog lights? So, to fit these H4 replacement lamps, do you not a H13 to H4 adapter? Do 2015 JKs have H13 lamps fitted?

Platinum Member fen01 Posted January 10, 2016 Platinum Member Share Posted January 10, 2016 Cheers. Are these night breakers worth a buy? I'm torn between a simple upgrade lamp or replacing the whole unit for LEDs..
Platinum Member Oddball Posted January 10, 2016 Author Platinum Member Share Posted January 10, 2016 I did it as a relatively cheap temporary measure ahead of swapping to LED. I picked these and a set of Aero wiper blades up on line for around £35 delivered. Both are excellent upgrades over OEM.
Platinum Member Oddball Posted January 10, 2016 Author Platinum Member Share Posted January 10, 2016 Rubbish light today so no decent pictures, managed a couple though ...still to fit the front skid plate. Did the briefest of local lanes today and the tyres performed exceptionally well...
