As requested, the flapjack recipe from Yarwell.

1) 5oz butter, 4oz dark brown sugar, 4 tablespoon golden syrup, 7oz rolled oats, 3oz coconut, 2oz of sultanas and chocolate chips, or just one or the other.

2) Preheat oven to 180 C and have a 8" square tin lined with greaseproof paper.

3) Gently melt butter, when melted stir in sugar, when that has melted into the butter stir in the syrup, when it has all melted together add the oats and coconut.

4) When all the 'dry' stuff is covered with the 'wet' stuff put it in the prepared tin and spread out so it is fairly even all over.

5) Sprinkle the sultanas, chocolate on top and press into the mixture.  Then put it in the oven

6) After around 10 minutes check that it is not escaping from the tin.  If it is put the tin on a baking sheet otherwise it makes cleaning the oven tricky. If not and the oven is still working fine.  If like me you discover that your oven has broken, take it out, rush to a friendly face with an oven and shove it in a cold oven, crank up the heat and hope for the best.

7) After another 20 minutes.(30ish in total) (unless the oven broke) try pressing the mixture with an implement or asbestos fingers, if it is firm remove from the oven, if not leave it a few more minutes and try again.

8) Once removed from the oven leave in the tin to cool for 30 minutes or so, then cut the mixture into size you want.......or if greedy leave as one huge flapjack.  If you try and cut it when it is completely cold it can be a tad more difficult.

9) When cold remove from tin and peel off greaseproof paper, unless you are partial to eating bits of paper of course.

10) Eat, or if really necessary, share.

Although not necessary to have the oven break in the middle of proceedings it does add an interesting element to the process. :icon_lol:
