Administrators stewart Posted November 3, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted November 3, 2015 Day 2 Tuesday 3rd November, [smg id=2679 type=preview align=center width=600] Factory tour of the Toledo production Plant the site sits on 312 acres there are 616 robots with a total of 5266 employees. Jeep build 2 models currently the JK Wrangler and the KL Cherokee. Our tour started with a brief presentation on the plant and production numbers ! They build 822 JK Wranglers per day and 1100 KL Cherokee's per day also hitting 500,00 for the year December 2014 Amazing numbers! The tour began with the Cherokee Plant starting at Final assembly and testing area to the Body in white operation. [smg id=2682 type=preview align=center width=600] Then a stop off at the metrology lab here the Jeep engineers spend many man hours checking the integrity of the build and parts used for the Jeep Cherokee. [smg id=2683 type=preview align=center width=600] Our tour then moved onto the JK Line where you could see the very impressive and newly adopted World Class manufacturing methods (WCM) creating many efficiencies in the product of both the JK Wrangler and KL Cherokee. Where the jeep chassis complete with engine and running gear meet the body tub! There is also a water testing facility used to test for leaks before leaving the factory! Perhaps one of the most impressive things of to day was how the JK get filled with all it’s fluids such as Brake fluid oil and engine coolant all in one operation via a robotic arm !
