Morning all,

Does the forum have an expert / point of contact who is able to arrange days out on the Plain through the wardens?

Cheers

This is what happened the last time we went:

Cost me a set of front wheel bearings and a shot compressor but it was worth it.

Can't wait for our first trip in the jeep!  Suspect it will need to be lifted first.

Add me to the list for the next trip please chaps [emoji2]

Hi Steve,

We run a few trips to the Plains each year. Each time, we research the routes and get information from local sources beforehand. Has served us well and not once have we been escorted from the Plains like certain other 4x4 clubs and their members we have seen! Just proves that we are getting it right  :great: we as a club are also members of GLASS as are individuals within the club.

When the event goes live on the forum it is filled very quickly. So keep an eye out for it. The next one is in the planning stage, but should be soon. We keep the numbers down in accordance with the advisories given by the wardens. Hence why we have not had complaints. The Plains can be done in a standard Jeep. Many do. I have led many groups over the years of differing Jeep models, most of which are standard apart from AT or MT tyres. Some have tried with road going tyres and at certain times of the year and in certain places you could become stuck. No real need for a lift kit, but a nice to have if doing any event.

Event is normally a 1000hrs to 1600hrs. We all meet up for a social gathering and a chat over a morning coffee before going, and the same again when done before heading off home.

Take a look at some of our past Plains trips in the forum and in the Albums section.

Hope to see you on the next one,

Jules

Thanks for taking the time to explain the forums approach Jules, good to here the group has the right reputation.

I have only ever been led by established groups with the right level of experience and solid local knowledge with good connections to the wardens.

My previous experience has been in a lifted 110 or a Disco 3 so always had suitable ground clearance; will attempt to get the Jeep lifted in advance however it is good to know that standard works.

Will keep a close watch for the next trip.  Happy to assist with any logistics of required.

Cheers,

Steve.
